Marble staircase inlay — bespoke fabrication by Art Inlay
Product 06 — Staircases

Marble staircase inlay

Inlaid staircases where the pattern climbs with the architecture — floral runners on curved treads, medallions on landings, borders that turn the corner without a break.

Begin a commission

Stairs are the hardest surface in the building to inlay: every tread a different radius, every riser a different angle, and the pattern must stay continuous through all of it. We template every flight in 3D before cutting.

Treads are cut oversize and scribed to the site, with anti-slip finishes honed into the walking line. Brass or contrasting stone nosings are inlaid flush so the edge reads as a line, not a trip hazard.

Questions

Asked about marble staircase inlay

Yes, if the structure can take the load. We survey first and specify tread overlays where the substrate allows.

The runner is drawn as one continuous spiral and cut as interlocking tread segments, so the motif flows without a break.

No — the walking line is honed or leathered for grip, and nosing inlays add visual and tactile edge definition.
