Stone Veneer Inlay
Marble Marquetry
Precision stone veneer compositions for architectural walls, furniture, and bespoke interiors.
What Is Marble Marquetry?
Marble marquetry adapts the joinery tradition of wood marquetry to natural stone. Thin-cut stone veneers — typically 10–15mm — are assembled in geometric or figurative patterns and bonded to a structural substrate, producing a lightweight decorative surface suited to walls, furniture, and architectural elements.
Unlike traditional marble inlay, which recesses pieces into a base stone, marquetry builds upward from a backing. Lighter, faster to produce, and applicable to surfaces that cannot bear full-thickness stone load.
Art Inlay produces marble marquetry panels to specification from our Jiangmen atelier. Factory-direct to project sites worldwide.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between marble marquetry and marble inlay?
Marquetry assembles thin veneer pieces on a substrate. Inlay sets pieces into recesses cut into a base stone. Inlay is used for floors and heavy-traffic surfaces; marquetry for walls, furniture, and lightweight applications.
What thickness are marble marquetry panels?
Stone veneer is typically 10–15mm. With aluminium honeycomb backing, total panel thickness is 20–25mm. Unbacked sheets are available to specification.
Can marble marquetry be used on floors?
Not recommended for primary floor surfaces. For floor applications, full-thickness marble inlay is the correct specification. Marquetry can be used for low-traffic floor borders and decorative inserts where load is not a factor.
What is the largest panel size available?
Standard production up to 1200 × 2400mm per panel. Larger installations are supplied as matched multi-panel sets with a joint alignment plan.
Do you offer material sample boards?
Yes. Stone palette sample boards are available on request prior to production commitment. We send physical samples by courier to the project address.
How is marble marquetry shipped?
Panels are individually wrapped and custom-crated in timber. Each panel is numbered to match the installation drawing. DDP shipping available worldwide — US, EU, Middle East, Southeast Asia.
Marble Inlay
Full-thickness stone inlay for floors, borders, and structural horizontal surfaces. Custom waterjet production.
Pietre Dure
The Florentine tradition of pictorial stone inlay. Semi-precious stone compositions for wall panels and furniture.
