The brief

What this project had to solve

Reception floors and corridors in one continuous specification — five rooms, one joint standard.

The commission

Private Residence, Guangzhou in detail

This Guangzhou residence was specified as a single continuous floor: five rooms of reception and corridor inlaid to one joint standard, so the corridors read as galleries rather than passages.

We set the whole sequence out from one axis, cut Statuario, Nero Marquina and Giallo Siena to ±0.1mm, and planned the field panels so the pattern ran unbroken through every doorway. The floor was dry-assembled and numbered before crating.

Installed, the reception floors and corridors carry a single inlay language, turning the circulation into part of the composition.

The five rooms were set out from one axis drawn across the whole plan, so the eye follows the border through each doorway. Joinery and thresholds were detailed in the same stone family, so the transitions disappear into the floor.

How we make it

From drawing to crating

01

Full-size drawing

The pattern is drawn 1:1 on the atelier floor before any stone is cut, so proportions are settled at the scale you will walk on.

02

Stone selection

Blocks and slabs are chosen against the drawing, vein by vein, and photographed for your approval.

03

Waterjet cutting

Multi-axis waterjet cuts every piece direct from the approved CAD file, held to ±0.1mm across the whole figure.

04

Dry assembly & crating

The composition is assembled, inspected and numbered on the factory floor, then crated with a setting plan.
