What Is a Marble Floor Medallion?
A marble floor medallion is a circular or geometric stone inlay panel, fabricated from multiple cut stone pieces fitted together with near-zero gap tolerance. Installed as a centrepiece in entrance halls, hotel lobbies, villa foyers, and grand staircases, each medallion is produced to a bespoke design and cut by waterjet to 0.2mm precision.

Medallion Types
We produce medallions across five core construction types, from pure waterjet geometry to full pietre dure pictorial compositions. Every design is developed from your drawings or brief.
- Waterjet Geometric — Linear patterns, star bursts, and compass roses in 2–6 marble varieties. Most common for hotel lobbies and residential entries. Diameters 600mm–4000mm+.
- Floral & Foliate — Curved petal and vine forms cut by waterjet, assembled by hand. Suited to classical and baroque interiors.
- Pietre Dure Pictorial — Inlaid stone imagery: birds, botanical motifs, heraldic shields. Each piece individually cut and colour-matched. Highest craft level.
- Bordered Compass — Central rosette with concentric ring borders. Clean, architectural. Preferred by contemporary luxury developers.
- Bespoke Commission — Client-supplied artwork or logo translated to stone. Used for hospitality brands, private crests, and estate monograms.
Materials & Specifications
Art Inlay sources marble, onyx, granite, quartzite, and semi-precious stone from Italy, Spain, Turkey, Iran, Brazil, and China. Material selection is confirmed before production begins.
- Commonly specified stones: Calacatta Gold, Statuario, Nero Marquina, Emperador Dark, Verde Alpi, Crema Marfil, Turkish Beige, Rosso Verona.
- Waterjet tolerance: ±0.2mm cut precision; joints filled with epoxy or dry-set mortar.
- Standard thickness: 18mm or 20mm. Structural backing available on request.
- Finish options: Polished, honed, brushed, sandblasted, leathered.
- Delivery format: Pre-assembled on mesh backing (small pieces) or numbered slab panels (large medallions) with installation drawings.
- Lead time: 6–10 weeks from design approval, depending on complexity and material sourcing.

Marble medallions are specified by architects and interior designers for spaces where the floor itself must communicate prestige. Art Inlay works directly with the project team from concept to crate.
Hotel lobbies and grand reception halls — the medallion defines arrival. Five-star and ultra-luxury properties in Dubai, London, and Riyadh regularly specify bespoke medallions at 2000–4000mm diameter.
Private villa entrance halls and staircases — typically 800–1600mm, coordinated with marble skirting and wall panels from the same material palette.
Residential tower penthouses — lift lobby and foyer feature pieces. Often geometric with black and white contrast or all-white with gold onyx accents.
Retail and hospitality flagship spaces — brand logo or heritage motif inlaid as a permanent centrepiece. Installed in luxury boutiques and private club entrances.

How We Make a Marble Medallion
Every medallion produced at Art Inlay follows the same disciplined process, from first drawing to final installation pack. No shortcuts.
- Design and drawing review — We work from your AutoCAD or PDF drawing. If no drawing exists, our design team produces one from your reference images and dimensions. We confirm materials, diameter, and finish before proceeding.
- Stone selection and purchase — Slabs are sourced in matched batches to guarantee consistent colour across the assembled piece. For large medallions, book-matching is used where required.
- Waterjet cutting — Programmatic waterjet cuts all pieces to 0.2mm tolerance from the approved DXF file. Cutting speed is adjusted by material density and section width.
- Dry assembly and quality check — All cut pieces are dry-assembled on the factory floor and photographed. Joint gaps are inspected. Any piece outside tolerance is recut.
- Edge finishing and polish — Exposed edges bevelled or eased. Top surface polished, honed, or brushed to client specification.
- Packaging and export — Smaller medallions mounted on fibreglass mesh backing. Large medallions crated as numbered panels with full installation drawings. DDP shipping available worldwide.

What is the minimum order quantity for a marble medallion?
There is no minimum quantity. Art Inlay produces single bespoke pieces for private commissions as well as multi-unit runs for hotel or residential tower projects. Each order is priced individually based on design complexity, materials, and dimensions.
How long does production take?
Standard lead time is 6–10 weeks from design approval and deposit. Straightforward geometric designs in common materials can be faster. Complex pietre dure pictorial pieces typically require 10–14 weeks. We provide a confirmed production schedule before production begins.
What sizes are available?
We produce medallions from 300mm diameter up to 6000mm+ for grand palace installations. There is no practical upper limit — large medallions are produced in numbered crate panels and assembled on site. Standard residential sizes range from 800mm to 1800mm.
Can you match a specific stone from another supplier?
Yes, in most cases. If a stone has been specified by name (e.g. Calacatta Gold Extra, Nero Marquina Extra) we can source matching material. For unusual stones, we request a reference slab or specification sheet before confirming availability.

Yes. Art Inlay ships factory direct to over 40 countries. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping is available to the US, EU, UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other key markets. We provide export documentation, packing lists, and installation drawings with every order.
What is the difference between a waterjet medallion and a pietre dure medallion?
A waterjet medallion is cut entirely by computer-controlled waterjet, producing geometric or flowing forms with consistent precision. A pietre dure medallion uses the same waterjet cutting but incorporates pictorial imagery — birds, florals, landscapes — with individually selected stone pieces matched for colour and grain. Pietre dure is the more labour-intensive and premium technique.
